Rug Repair & Restoration
We are committed to providing our clients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about how to care for and preserve their rugs and kilims for years to come. As such, we provide free inspections of all clients’ rugs and kilims in need of repair or restoration. During these inspections, we provide detailed and clear explanations of the various repair and restoration options available to our clients, as well as an accurate estimate regarding expected cost of repairs.
All work is done on site by Rug Repairman. Below is a list of some of the rug repair options we can provide. Please give us a call, and we can assist in giving you the best recommendations for your specific repair needs.
The Care and Cleaning of Your Rugs
All rugs at some time will need to be cleaned, and our company is well-equipped and prepared to handle the cleaning of any type of oriental rug.
After first doing a preliminary vacuuming and “dusting” of each rug, any stains will first need to be treated, and the method used will depend upon the type of stain. If there are no deep stains caused by pets or other accidents, then the rug is washed with cold water, liquid soap and white vinegar. However, if there are pet stains, these will first be treated with pet urine stain remover and white vinegar. We do not use chemicals during the cleaning process.
In most cases, the cleaning and drying process of rugs can be accomplished within one week. If more time might be needed, you will be notified of this.
Pickup of rugs can be done in Shoreline, Lynnwood, Edmonds and Seattle. Or if special arrangements are requested regarding pickup and delivery of your rugs, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Antique Rug Repair
Repair phases of an “Antique” Rug:
First, the wool is dyed to its original colors and made ready before repair.
1 – The rug is first laid down on a flat surface in order to determine how it can best be repaired. The missing warps and designs are first checked and then the missing warps are replaced with a needle. The rug is then stretched on a workbench; the weft operation is carried out with the help of a crochet hook, by working at the back side of the rug.
2 – The front side of the rug is then stretched on the workbench and the missing designs are spotted and carefully sewed and brought to its final phase.
3 – Upon completion of repair, the rug is leveled on both sides to bring it to its original appearance.
The repair of wear and tear may sometimes need several days or months depending on the difficulty of the repair.
Installation of Runners
If you need installation of runners on your stairs, we provide this service, and we will work with you to offer the best solution and cost according to your needs.
End Repair
Stitching applied by hand, which prevents the ends from unraveling, is the most secure and effective way of securing the ends of your rug.
Rug Pads
We offer three different thicknesses of washable rug pads. And, if needed, we can also provide a pet urine barrier to further protect your rugs. Our rug specialist will be able to advise you which protection and rug pad would be most appropriate for your rugs.
Workshop in Türkiye
If your rug requires specialized or extensive repairs, we can arrange to have it shipped to Turkiye. There our repair specialists will do what is needed to restore your rug to a pristine condition.

If you would like a rug made to order (custom made), we can offer you many design and color possibilities, and whichever design you choose can be made to your specifications by our weaving experts in Turkiye. If you prepare your own rug design, we are capable of creating that design for you (special order).
